Paul McCartney Setlist Will Have To Be Updated; For The Former Beatle, Everything Old Is ‘New’ Again (Audio)

Paul McCartney’s new single is exactly that. The former Beatle’s new single is called “New” and it harks back to his days with the Fab Four. There’s even a false fade-out and an unmistakable early Beatle harmony closing. Paul McCartney’s new single is the first off his upcoming album.

Paul McCartney turned 71 this summer and he’s been making music for 50 years, more than that if you include the work he did with Tony Sheridan while the Beatles were in Hamburg. Paul McCartney has had hits in every decade. The Beatles were the most influencial band in rock history. Maybe in music history. Wings flew to the top of the charts almost hourly. But Sir Paul can still reach back to the old to pull out something “New.”

Paul McCartney’s new album will drop on Oct. 15 in the U.S. The Brits get it the day before. The album has a few producers, including the son of George Martin, The Beatles’ producer. It’s a full family reunion as Paul McCartney also recorded with and Ethan Johns, the son of Glyn Johns, who engineered some of the best sounds the Beatles ever got. It was Glyn Johns who came up with the idea of putting two bass cabinets together with a mic between them to capture the beautifully melodic bass lines Paul McCartney played on the Beatles’ song “Rain.”

Paul McCartney’s new song, “New” (I love writing that) was produced by Mark Ronson, who is probably best known for his work with Amy Winehouse. Paul also worked with Adele producer Paul Epworth.

Paul McCartney's last album was last year’s collection of standards, “Kisses on the Bottom.” Paul McCartney hasn’t released an album of original songs since “Memory Almost Full” in 2007. It looks like
Paul uploaded more memory because “Bad” has quite a few chords.

Paul McCartney recently told the BBC, "The record is very varied. I worked with four producers and each of them brought something different." Don't know about you, but we can't wait to hear the whole thing.

Paul McCartney’s new album will also be called “New” and it hits the stores in October 2013.
