Judge Todd Baugh of Billings Montana Rape Sentence Protest [VIDEO]: Judge Apologizes For Calling Teen "Older Than Her Chronological Age" But Not For 30 Day Sentence For Rapist

Judge Todd Baugh of Billings, Montana apologized for remarks he made during a sentencing about a teen girl's rape, but did not apologize for giving the rapist only a 30-day sentence.

Cherice Moralez, the victim, killed herself at age 16 after the fallout from the rapes by teacher Stacey Rambold at age 14 caused her to be ostracized.

"Obviously, a 14-year-old can't consent. I think that people have in mind that this was some violent, forcible, horrible rape," Judge Todd Baugh of Billings, Montana said Tuesday. "It was horrible enough as it is, just given her age, but it wasn't this forcible beat-up rape."

Judge Todd Baugh of Billings, Montana submitted a letter to the editor about the rape sentence saying he was "not sure just what I was attempting to say, but it did not come out correct[sic]."

"What I said is demeaning of all women, not what I believe and irrelevant to the sentencing," Judge Todd Baugh of Billings, Montana wrote. "My apologies to all my fellow citizens."

Judge Todd Baugh of Billings, Montana had called victim Cherice Moralez "older than her chronological age" and "as much in control of the situation as her teacher".

Moralez's mother said: "I guess somehow it makes a rape more acceptable if you blame the victim, even if she was only 14."

There is such an outcry about the sentence given by Judge Todd Baugh of Billings, Montana that there is a petition and protests to remove him.

The superintendent of schools in the district where Moralez went said: "What Mr. Rambold did when he was teacher was repugnant and inexcusable. While I respect our court system, I disagree with the sentence, and I believe Mr. Rambold deserves to spend more time in jail than 30 days."

Moralez's mother received 91,000 in a wrongful death civil suit against the district.
