Sherlock Season 3 Nearly Done Filming: Irene Adler Reportedly Not In New Series, But Lara Pulver Says She 'Will Be Back'

As "Sherlock" season 3 nears filming completion, one character that is distinctly missing is Irene Adler.

With a cast of returning characters like Lestrade, Mrs. Hudson, Mycroft, and Molly Hooper, it is surprising that such an iconic and popular character has not been seen during filming for any of the season 3 episodes.

"She's definitely not dead, which is always a good start," says Lara Pulver regarding Irene Adler on "Sherlock."

"I think there are some other integral key characters they want to introduce into Season 3, which is kind of going to be their focus, and some new stories to tell."

Indeed, one character who will be featured in multiple "Sherlock" season 3 episodes is Mary Morsten, the eventual wife of John Watson in the books.

Mary Morsten is played by Martin Freeman's real-life partner, Amanda Abbington, who has been seen filming for season 3 episode 3, "His Last Vow."

Sadly, this seems "Sherlock" season 3 will put Lara Pulver on hold for now, although the actress is currently a series regular on BBC's "Da Vinci's Demons."

"I have no doubt at some point Irene Adler will be back in that BBC show. It was such a wonderful piece of writing on Steven Moffat's part, and it's become a very kind of iconic relationship between Holmes and Adler," continues Pulver according to Spinoff Online.

"There's definitely more to be explored, but it might not be in the immediate future."
