50 Shades Of Grey Movie Cast UPDATE: Author E.L. James Thanks Both Supporters And Haters After Revealing Official Casting!

The 50 Shades of Grey movie cast has finally been revealed.  Charlie Hunnam will be playing the role of Christian Grey and Dakota Johnson will portray Anastasia Steele.  This was announced on Sept. 3 by no less than the book's author, E.L. James.

First, she tweeted, "I am delighted to let you know that the lovely Dakota Johnson has agreed to be our Anastasia in the film adaptation of Fifty Shades of Grey."

She later revealed, "The gorgeous and talented Charlie Hunnam will be Christian Grey in the film adaptation of Fifty Shades of Grey."

The announcement came after months of speculations and a long list of possible actors and actresses - as movie producer Dana Brunnett promised to Lori and Michele on Northwest Prime Radio over the weekend.

Dakota Johnson, the 23-year old daughter of "Miami Vice" Don Johnson and "Working Girl" Melanie Griffith, is known for her work on the short-lived Fox sitcom "Ben & Kate." She also had a stint in "The Social Network" and "The Five-Year Engagement" with supporting roles.  It was earlier rumored that Emma Watson, Shailene Woodley, Alicia Vikander and Analeigh Tipton were considered for the coveted role.

Griffith had announced in her own Twitter account, "My beautiful child Dakota has been chosen to play Anna Steele in 50 Shades!!! Look out world! Here she comes!!! #proudmama"

Charlie Hunnam, on the other hand, is a 33-year British actor who played Raleigh Becket in "The Pacific Rim" and is known as Jackson "Jax" Teller in the TV series "Sons of Anarchy."

Brunnett had said earlier that a lot of fans might be disappointed over the announcement since the chosen actors to play the roles in the movie adaptation might not be one who they imagined it to be while reading the book, and it really seldom happens.  As she explained, there are a lot of things to be considered when choosing the appropriate actors and actresses - from their availability to the chemistry in between the cast.

After the announcement, E.L. James tweeted, "To all the supporters, lovers and haters - thank you so much for the passion that you have for this project. You all rock. All of you. ♡"

Fifty Shades of Grey is expected to be release on August 1, 2014 under Focus Features and will be directed by Sam Taylor-Johnson.
