50 Shades Of Grey Movie Cast: Author, Producer Defend Choices Of Dakota Johnson, Charlie Hunnam As Christian Grey & Ana Steele

"50 Shades of Grey" movie cast was announced on Monday with backlash from fans on Twitter to the point that the author of the book and the producer of the film had to tweet in order to defend their choices of Charlie Hunnam and Dakota Johnson for the lead roles.

Producer Dana Brunetti talked about the "50 Shades of Grey" movie cast last week and noted that fans might not like their choices to play the roles of Ana Steele and Christian Grey. Brunetti talked about how each reader of the original book might have a different vision on what the character might look like.

"I am delighted to let you know that the lovely Dakota Johnson has agreed to be our Anastasia in the film adaptation of 'Fifty Shades of Grey,'" the first tweet Monday to reveal one of the lead roles.

James followed it with another tweet. "The gorgeous and talented Charlie Hunnam will be Christian Grey in the film adaptation of 'Fifty Shades of Grey.'"

When it was revealed by author E.L. James that Hunnam and Johnson would play the lead roles in the "50 Shades of Grey" movie cast, fans had all sorts of tweets. Some ripped that Johnson, who has had roles in "21 Jump Street" and "The Social Network," but isn't a big enough name to play an anticipated character like Ana Steele.

The same was used for the movie career of Hunnam, which includes roles in "Pacific Rim" and "Cold Mountain." His claim to fame is as the lead role on the hit FX series, "Sons of Anarchy."

"To all the supporters, lovers and haters - thank you so much for the passion that you have for this project. You all rock. All of you. ♡" James tweeted Monday to defend their choices of Hunam and Johnson.

Brunetti also defended the final casting, tweeting, "There is a lot that goes into casting that isn't just looks. Talent, availability, their desire to do it, chemistry with the other actor, etc."
