Upcoming Laptops 2013: World's Largest PC Maker Unveils New Thinkpad Lineup Just Before IFA

Lenovo has been on a roll in the past year, being named the world's top personal computer manufacturer. However, it seems it wants to prolong its stay at the top and spoil the efforts of its bitterest rivals HP and Acer.

Just several hours before the IFA event in Berlin, Lenovo announced several laptops which would cater to midrange and high-end markets.

The Thinkpad S540 is undeniably the leader of the pack, sporting a 15-inch screen with 1080p resolution, good for full HD. According to GSM Arena, this ultrabook is aimed at business owners and enterprises which value quality build and lightning fast performance.  Its sibling, the S440 is not far behind with similar specifications but a smaller screen.

The manufacturer also announced two 14-inch display laptops, the T440 and T440s, each one boasting buttonless trackpads and latchless lids with 180-degree opening mechanism, perfect for users on the go. The said units also feature up to 12GB of RAM, and either 1 TB HDD or 512GB SDD for storage.

A smaller Thinkpad named X240 was also mentioned with its 12.5-inch screen.

A report from GSM Arena says the ThinkPad T440, T440s, and X240 will be released in October for $899, $1149, and $1099, respectively. Meanwhile, the mammoth S440 can be purchased for €699, while the S540 will be available next month from €649.
