Android Version Update 2013: Version 5.0 Key Lime Pie Postponed, Google Welcomes Android 4.4 KitKat
Just when everyone thought Google is already cooking the next Android version, it announced that its next update will be 4.4, which it dubbed as KitKat.
I know, Google seems poised in including branded names in its upcoming Android versions.
According to Sundar Pichar, head of the Android and Chrome division at Google confrmed the name from Nestlé's popular chocolate bar.
Google also said that "it's our goal with Android KitKat to make an amazing Android experience available for everybody". GSM Arena reports that the statement may also hint that the company will start venturing on other industries aside from the smartphone niche. This will include Android smartwatches, game consoles, and other gadgets.
In his Google post, Pichar was also proud to announce that the company's Android platform has already reached the 1 billion mark as far as device activations are concerned.
"I can't wait to release the next version of the platform", he added.
