Alexis Bledel Should Star In ‘50 Shades Of Grey,’ Fans Say In Petition; Almost 25,000 Signatures Reject Charlie Hunnam and Dakota Johnson As Christian and Anastasia

Fans of "50 Shades of Grey" were hoping that Alexis Bledel and Matt Bomer would be cast as Anastasia Steele and Christian Grey in the movie adaption of E.L. James' erotic novel. When fans found out that instead Dakota Johnson and Charlie Hunnam snagged the roles, they started a petition that has almost 25,000 signatures.

The petition on Change.org states, "We want Matt Bomer and Alexis Bledel as Christian Grey and Anastasia Steele in 50 Shades," Us Weekly reports.

"Matt Bomer is the PERFECT DESCRIPTION OF CHRISTIAN GREY AND ALEXIS BLEDEL IS THE PERFECT ACTRESS TO REPRESENT ANASTASIA STEELE and if THEY ARE NOT, NOBODY WILL BE. And I read the whole trilogy and I can assure that Matt is the perfect actor for this movie and Alexis too," the petition argues. "So please PLEASE, all of the GREYsessed and Bomerettes in the world NEED those actors. They always will be for us the Christian Grey and Anastasia Steele. WE CAN DO ANYTHING GUYS, ANYTHING."

Bomer, 35, and Bledel, 31, were the dream cast for many fans of "50 Shades of Grey" trilogy. Once a movie adaption was announced in 2012, fans even created fake trailers featuring the two actors, Us Weekly reports.

Alexis Bledel told Elle magazine at the time that she was both flattered and intimidated by the videos.

"People definitely do have strong opinions about it," Bledel said. "I guess when people really identify with a concept, they feel strongly about it."

Access Hollywood also asked Bomer if he would sign on for the role. Bomer admitted at the time that he hadn't read the "50 Shades" books, but added, "It sounds amazing, and from what I hear, people are really into the story so I gotta check it out."

The petition requests fans to sign a letter saying: "Matt Bomer and Alexis Bledel always will be for us the Christian Grey and Anastasia Steele. Sincerely, [Your name]"
