Houston Texas School Stabbing Leaves One Dead, Three Injured: High School On Lockdown 'He Was Just Trying To Come Home From School Today'

Houston Texas school stabbing leaves one 16-year-old male sophomore dead and three others injured Wednesday morning Spring High School.

The school, located in a suburb of Houston, Harris County Sheriff Adrian Garcia said in a statement that three "persons of interest" have been taken into custody following the stabbing in Texas.

"He was just trying to come to school today," the alleged father of the 16-year-old boy that was stabbed and killed told KPRC-TV.

The Texas high school near Houston has 3,000 students and was on lock down following the stabbing that Garcia said took place around 7 a.m. He said it started with a physical confrontation that led to one being killed and three others injured. It might have been gang-related, according to Garcia. Police arrived within a minute of being notified of the incident.

"This is an important message from Spring High School. Based on a preliminary report, a fight occurred this morning in the cafeteria. There has been one fatality and three students have been transported to hospitals with injuries. All other students are safe in their classrooms and will remain there while the investigation continues. Students will be released as soon as we have been given permission from the investigating authorities. We will call you again as soon as we have more details," read an e-mail to the parents/guardians of the students.

"When street violence pours into the schools, it compromises the well-being of all our students," Ralph Draper, Spring ISD superintendent, said at a news conference outside the school. "It is our aim to re-establish a safe and secure place" for students on campus.
