Top Android Phones 2013: Sony Xperia z1 Mini Allegedly Leaked By Japanese Telecom

During the IFA event in Berlin last month, Sony unveiled one of the top Android phones for 2013, the Xperia Z1 to compete with Samsung's Galaxy Note 3 and LG's G2 smartphones. Now, it seems the Japanese manufacturer will also offer a 'mini' variant of its flagship phone.

In a brochure by Japanese local carrier NTT DoCoMo, a scaled down version of the Sony flagship was spotted. Leaked by Xperia Blog, the image shows a number of features which are identical to the original Z1, but with less screen estate.

Allegedly named as the Xperia Z1f, the 'mini' smartphone boasts the same 2.2Ghz quadcore Snapdragon 800 processor and 20.7MP primary shooter, and a few iterations such as a 4.3-inch 720x1080p display, 2GB of RAM, 16GB of internal storage. The Xperia Z1 mini is rumored to be available in black, white, yellow and red variations.

Based on the original Z1, the Z1 mini will likely be waterproof and dustproof as well. It also comes with Android 4.3 Jelly Bean out of the box, topped with Sony'x own UI.

While we should probably take these images with a grain of salt, it would certainly be a tight competition between the 'minis' of the smartphone world in case Sony confirms it.

HTC and Samsung have already launched their respective 'mini' phones based on their current flagships.
