Plants Vs. Zombies 2 Release Date: Strategic Board Game Version Available? Hasbro Launches ‘Risk’ Version Of Game

Risk owner Hasbro and Plants vs. Zombies publisher PopCap Games have launched a specially branded edition of the classic tabletop board game Risk.

The two-player game has a double-sided game board; one one side, there's an original town called Brainsborough, and on the other, the famous backyard from the Plants vs. Zombies video game, Forbes.com reports.

There's three different ways to play the game (Tower Defense, Mission Objective, or Total Domination), but in each version, one player controls the plants and the other controls the zombies - players engage in skirmishes, try to take over the whole board, and strive to reach three different victory conditions, Forbes.com also reports.

There are reported rumors that Apple paid Electronic Arts substantial amounts of money to delay the game's release for Android OS to boos their own sales, but the developer squashed speculation by announcing that was not the case.

The rumor does not point to an exact release date next month, but confirms that it will be available in October.

Plants Vs. Zombies 2 was released in China for Android users earlier this month, but still awaits a launch in the United States and the United Kingdom.

EA's game focuses on tower defense and allows gamers to time travel to Ancient Egypt, the Wild West and the Pirate Seas.

Plants Vs. Zombies 2 for Android will launch next month, Polygon.com reports, leaving many wondering what to expect from the game.

"According to the source, Plants vs. Zombies 2 - which launched on iOS last month worldwide, and on Android only in China earlier this month - was given the launch window of October, though no firm release date was revealed," the website reported after speaking to sources close to EA's operations.
