Flexible Display: Samsung And LG May Be First To Release Smartphones With Bendable Screen

In recent years, LG and Samsung have been developing flexible displays - but they're not yet placed in a real, working phone. Now, a leaked report indicates that the two Korean rivals may be launching the world's first smartphones with flexible screens.

According to a South Korean media site, two new upcoming Android handsets named, the LG Z and the Samsung Galaxy Note 3 Active are currently in the works and would be launched this month in separate events.

DDaily reported that Samsung would launch the Galaxy Note 3 Active next week, after an executive acccidentally spilled the beans during an interview about the company's third quarter profit. However, no further details are available at this time.

On the other hand, ZDNet Korea dubs LG's smartphone as LG Z, which is kinda odd because it's similar to the name of Sony's previous flagship, the Xperia Z.

Unlike the Note 3 Active, there is an alleged photo of the LG Z making the rounds on the Web.

Based on the concept image above, the LG Z would be shaped like a banana, making it easier to place on the ears during phone calls.

ZDNet Korea also reports the alleged specifications of the rumored handset. It is rumored to pack a 6-in full HD display, a Snapdragon 800 processor, and LTE support.

While this is certainly something we should be excited about, we might just want to take it with a pinch of salt.
