Windows 8.1 Release Date: New OS Version Now Available For Pre-Orders Ahead Actual Launch Date

Microsoft's most awaited Windows 8.1 release date is fast approaching, but as early as today pre-orders are already available on its website. 

According to several tech blogs, the pre-order page for Windows 8.1 is already live. The standard edition will retail at $119.99 while Windows 8.1 Pro is available for $199.99. 

Since Microsoft announced the development of its refurbished OS, a lot of consumers and Windows fans are already awaiting the improved version. Some of the notable features in Windows 8.1 include the return of the Start button, better touch and application optimization, and snap views. 

Laptops and tablets running Windows 8.1 would also get more coporate-friendly features and services. 

Microsoft's Windows 8.1 update will officially be released on October 18 in the Windows Store.
