Riverside Park Attack: Homeless Man Attacks Five With Scissors

An attack in in Riverside Park, New York City has people shaken after a homeless man who went on a rampage.

The attack in Riverside Park seriously injured five people, including a 2 year old toddler, after a homeless man randomly attacked park-goers with a pair of scissors.

The victims of the attack in Riverside Park were stabbed and slashed by the attacker with the pair of scissors. The man has now been identified as Julius Graham; he is homeless and thought to be emotionally disturbed.

Graham attacked a father and his 2 year old son in the park. He also attacked three others.

Graham went through the park along one of the running and bike paths; he conducted a series of random attacks.

One witness said, "He was looking for people he could mess with. He was looking for trouble."

In the first attack, Graham stabbed a 36 year old woman in the back. He then immediately slashed a 36-year-old woman in the stomach. Following that attack, he slashed a 32 year old female who was jogging in the neck.

One witness said, "She was screaming and was holding a coat over her neck. She told me she was stabbed. She was hysterical, crying."

Finally, Graham stabbed a 35 year old man and his 2 year old daughter, who was being pushed in a stroller.

After this attack, a passer-by who witnessed the incident managed to pin Graham to the ground and hold him down until police arrived. He was then arrested.

The man, Thomas Ciriacks, was called heroic, but said, "I'm no hero. The real hero is the guy with the kid."

Police Commissioner Raymond W. Kelly told press that Graham had been taken into custody at Bellevue Hospital Center. All  victims are expected to survive the attack.
