Android 4.4 KitKat Release Date: Nexus 4 Running On Unreleased OS Leaked, Pantech Vega Confirms KitKat Availability End Of 2013

Android 4.4 KitKat release date maybe nearing as rumors swirl that it will be released with the Nexus 5, but which Gotta Be Mobile has said is a rumor that needs to die. But in an exclusive report by Gadget Helpline, the still unreleased OS of Google was seen working on a Nexus 4.

“First and foremost, we believed that the OS we played around with to be either an unfinished version or a cover-up for KitKat,” the blog noted. The reason is they saw no reference to the Nestle’s brand, for which the KitKat name was derived from.

The OS running on the Nexus 4 was actually dubbed Key Lime Pie, but Gadget Helpline said that the numerous aspects of the new operating system was nonetheless, easy to find. The Nexus 4 running on the alleged Android 4.4 KitKat was showing new apps and improved photo editing options.

Although the leaked may not be 100% accurate, a possibly stronger clue is coming all the way from Korea, where the Pantech brand, a famous handset brand in the country announced that it will have the Android 4.4 KitKat in its devices by the end of 2013.

According to Gotta Be Mobile, Blog of Mobile were the first to unearth this tweet (from the official Pantech Twitter account) which still kept the exact launch date for Vega Iron owners a mystery. All they got was that they can expect it soon. In other words, the only device that has been confirmed officially to come with Android 4.4 KitKat update before the 4.4 launch is the Pantech Vega Iron.

Android 4.4 KitKat’s release date, according to rumors is expected to be on October 14. Many are saying that the new mobile OS by Google will be announced together with the Nexus 5 and Nexus 10. The release of the mobile OS and the new Google flagship handset and tablet is said to be the tech giant’s last hoorah for the year.

No other companies have spoken on the subject to-date reports Gotta Be Mobile while they still try to figure out which products will have the update and by when they can get it. So far what Gotta Be Mobile can confirm is that a majority of the devices like Galaxy Note 2, S3 and many more will be upgrading to Android 4.3 and then the KitKat upgrade will come further down the line. Speculations suggest that HTC One X and One X+ will not even get the upgrade at all but HTC has not commented on this.

If speculations are anything to go by, we should learn of the specs in October. To be more exact, on the rumored October 14 date when Google has an announcement for the upcoming Nexus 5 that we expect to carry Android 4.4 KitKat.

Gotta Be Mobile states that the only confirmation available was Google stating earlier that the Samsung Galaxy Note 3 launch with Android 4.4 KitKat is coming. There was a splash page surrounding it that touted a partnership with Nestle but no concrete details has emerged on what the release date would be or what features reviewers and users could look forward to.

As far as Gotta Be Mobile is concerned, Nexus lineups are usually the first to come with Android updates so it is probable that the Pantech Vega Iron will only come after the Nexus 4, 7 and 10 in terms of the Android 4.4 KitKat Release Date.
