Huawei Ascend P7 Release Date: New Flagship's Specs Incl. 5" 1080p Display, 2GB RAM, 13MP Rear Shooter, 8MP Front Cam For Better Selfies

Huawei Ascend P7: After months of speculation, leaks and rumors, we finally get to see the newest Huawei high-end smartphone in the flesh. And from the looks of it, it certainly aims for the top of the Android food chain.

But can it achieve that goal?

According to the report from GSM Arena, Chinese manufacturer Huawei has just announced its Ascend P7 smartphone, which has been in the rumor mill for as long as we can remember.

So after all those rumors, is it all worth it? Here's a quick glance of the Android phone's specs.

The Huawei Ascend P7 packs a 5-inch display with Full HD (1920 x 1080) resolution. That's the stape nowadays for flagships including those from world-known manufacturers such as Samsung and HTC, so no harm done there.

However, the Chinese brand chose to use its own HiSilicon Kirin 910T chipset and paired it with a quad-core Cortex-A9 CPU clocked at 1.8GHz. That may not be enough to surpass competitors with a higher frequency CPU and faster chipset (Snapdragon), but we will see in the coming days if the home-made chip will be able to hold its own.

Also on board is a Mali-450 GPU for lightning fast graphics processing, 2GB of RAM, and 16GB of internal storage with an option for microSD storage expansion up to 32GB.

However, what caught our attention is the 13MP primary camera at the back with a BSI sensor and a 5-piece lens. In front is an industry leading 8MP front cam for high quality selfie shots and video calls.

The Huawei Ascend P7 runs on a 2,500mAh battery and Android 4.4 Kitkat out of the box. The report says the Chinese-made smartphone is expected to be priced at €449 or about $630.

So apart from the yet tested HiSilicon Kirin 910T chipset, we can say that the Ascend P7 is a high-end device. But is the price right?
