New Windows Phones 2014: Wistron Tiger Packs 6.45", Snapdragon 800, Metal-Clad Body, Seen At Computex In Taiwan
There are a number of mobile manufacturers in Asia, and because not all of them can fly to the US just to unveil their products, they do it during the Computex event in Taiwan every year.
And this year, there have a number of interesting releases from OEMs, particularly Chinese manufacturers. However, one report showcased a new Windows phone that will certainly be a hit when it goes official.
According to a report by GSM Arena, a Windows phone dubbed as Wistron Tiger appeared and has turned some heads with its sleek and metal clad design.
In the report, the Wistron Tiger packs a huge 6.45-inch display which directly rivals that of the Nokia Lumia 1520 in the same Windows Phone platform.
What makes it even more impressive is that the 6.45-inch screen comes with Full HD (1920 x 1080) resolution for high quality images and video viewing. Also on board the device is a Snapdragon 800 chipset - outdated yes, but it is still among the top chipsets in the market today.
As you can see in the image of the Wistron Tiger, the device has stereo speakers in front, as well as on-screen buttons instead of the capacitive ones commonly seen among Nokia WP smartphones.
In the report, the smartphone is only a reference design which means it has no manufacturer. Whichever manufacturer chooses to develop the device and mass produce it would surely have its hands full with the screen. But if they are able to promote the product well in its target market, all the hardwork would surely pay off.
In comparison, the Nokia Lumia 1520 was also a huge Windows Phone device with its 6 inch ClearBlack display. However, its specifications are enough motivation for users to purchase the device. The Nokia phablet packs a Snapdragon 800 chip, 2GB of RAM, quad-core Krait CPUs, and a 20MP PureView camera.
If this reference smartphone named as Wistron Tiger wants to rival the Lumia 1520, it should come with similar specs at a much lower price tag.
