2014 NBA Free Agency Rumors & Predictions: Cleveland Cavaliers First Overall Pick, Dion Waiters, Tristan Thompson All In Play For Kevin Love? Can Cleveland Convince All-Star Forward That They Can Win?

The 2014 NBA Free Agency Rumors & Predictions at this time seem to focus on Kevin Love. He is, after all, the biggest trade chip in recent years. The Cleveland Cavaliers broke into the conversation after they secured the first overall pick.

While the Cavs were probably marginal options for Love at best, securing the first overall pick in one of the strongest drafts in recent years instantly made them a real destination.

The Lakers and the Celtics, both prominent Love suitors wanted to move up in the draft lottery hoping that a top three pick would cover their lack of trade assets. But it was the Cavs who capitalized.

The Cavs also has young talent to offer. ESPN analyzed their possible trade baits:

"Trade bait: Dion Waiters, Tristan Thompson, Anderson Varejao, picks

Pitch: Cleveland owns protected 2015 first-round picks from Miami and Memphis, the 33rd pick in the 2014 draft and (if the Cavs are wild) the No. 1 overall pick in 2014. Waiters and Thompson are young talents, and Varejao is a productive big on a partial guarantee.

Love would play with Kyrie Irving in the East. Unlike Boston, Cleveland has the cap space to surround them with talent; like Boston, it still doesn't move the meter for Love, although Minnesota would surely be intrigued with the chance to add the No. 1 pick."

The Minnesota Timberwolves would possibly accept a deal with the no. 1 overall pick along with a couple of those trade baits. However, because of Kevin Love's contract status, he has a say in the proceedings as he can refuse to sign a contract extension. Cleveland would not sacrifice the first overall pick which would stay with them for at least three years for just one year of Kevin Love.

Love has stated that he wants to win and he would also want to be in a big market. Cleveland is not the latter, so they have to convince Love about their playoff chances.

If Minnesota wants the top overall pick, they may have to get creative and trade Love to a contender who would then acquire the pick for them.

The Love story is definitely far from over.
