NBA Finals 2014: LeBron Can't Take The Heat! Spurs Take Game 1 In ‘Scorcher!’ King James Laments ‘I’m The Easiest Target In All Of Sports’ After Internet And Media Backlash!

Game 1 of the NBA Finals 2014 will be remembered for the heat and how the Heat, specifically LeBron James succumbed to it. But the Spurs also did what they do best!

They were down by 7 points going into the fourth quarter. The Miami Heat clogged the passing lanes and used their ball movement against them-resulting in an uncharacteristic 18 turnovers at that point.

The Spurs used a 31-9 fourth quarter run, the latter half of that with LeBron James wilting on the bench, to propel them to a 110-95 win.

Manu Ginobili was also overwhelmed. From ESPN: "We ended up with a win that was sort of unlikely after 40 minutes."

Spurs reserve Patty Mills, who played extended minutes had more conviction: "Guys keeping other guys in the game and keeping the passion was a huge one tonight. No matter what happened, we all just hung together as a group and just said little comments to keep people motivated. 'We're still in this. Keep grinding, keep grinding.' And I think we've done a great job of coming together as a group and finding ways to win."

On the other side, LeBron James could not muster any swagger when he cramped up and eventually cost his team the title. He succumbed to the heat as the AT&T Center's air conditioning conked out. Dehydration is a possible cause of cramps.

As with everything that King James does, social media will be on his case. LeBron tries his best to stay in focus.

From Sportscenter Conversation: I know I'm the easiest target that we have in sports, I'm aware of it. I really am. I believe it."

"For me, all I can control is what I control. For me, as one of the leaders of our team, one of the biggest competitors of our team, and knowing what it takes to win, for me, I'll maintain my focus and get ready for Game 2. (There's) anger in the sense that I wasn't able to be out there for my teammates to possibly help them win Game 1 of the Finals. But what I can control is what I do to prepare myself mentally going to the next game."

Of course, he has a parting shot to the 'haters.'

"I can't play the game of basketball and live my life on what other people expect me to do or what they think I should do, that doesn't make me happy," James said. "What makes me happy is being able to make plays for my teammates, to be able to represent the name on the back of my jersey. That's what makes me happy. What everybody else thinks? That doesn't really matter to me."

He has another chance to redeem himself on Sunday night, Game 2 at San Antonio. Hopefully, with air conditioning.
