Evan Rachel Wood Sued for Dropping Out of ’10 Things I Hate About Life’; Producers Want $30 Million From the True Blood Actress

Evan Rachel Wood Sued: Don't you just hate life sometimes? Evan Rachel Wood has one more reason to hate life. The actress's decision to drop out of the movie "10 Things I Hate About Life" has landed her in court for a $30 million lawsuit for not doing the movie.

TMZ reports that Evan Rachel Wood was sued by the producer of the film "10 Things I Hate About Life," a planned sequel to the hit 1999 comedy "10 Things I Hate About You." The producer claims that the recently separated actress paid a $300,000 retainer and then bailed on the movie.

Wood was sued along with "As You Wish Productions," a loan out company that provides Wood's professional services.

The complaint says "Plaintiff has suffered significant and extensive damages and financial harm, including, but not limited to, the loss of, a minimum, $6 million equity investments, costs and related expenses in the Picture, financing costs and expenses in the amount of, at a minimum, $500,000.00, lost profits in the amount of, at a minimum, $20 million and additional general and special damages in the amount of $5 million."

According to Deadline Hollywood, 10 Things Film LLC filed the lawsuit on Thursday, June 5. The suit claims Wood is in breach of her contract by refusing to appear in the movie. The True Blood actress signed on to the project in 2012, but filming shut down in January 2013. The producers say they pleaded with the True Blood actress to return to the movie when it resumed production. They agreed to pay her more money, but Wood did not return to the film.

A statement from Evan Rachel Wood's people says "The lawsuit is preposterous and simply a bullying tactic from financially troubled producers. The production shut down in February 2013 when the producers ran out of money. Even after that, Evan agreed to resume production in Nov. 2013 by which time the producers said they would have cleared up their issues. However, the producers still could not get their act together, nor did they pay Evan money that was owed. Repeated subsequent promises by the producers to resume production and pay Evan also turned out to be false. Enough is enough. The producers, not Evan, have breached contract."
