HTC One Mini 2 Price: The Primary Reason Why This Mini Will Run Out Of Steam Against Other Midrangers

Hands down, all of HTC's smartphones are gorgeous whether they be made out of polycarbonate plastic or brushed aluminum.

Unfortunately for HTC, it has been failing miserably in one aspect of its marketing - pricing.

Indeed, any Android fan would want to get their hands on a sleek-looking, head-turning and mouth-watering device that feels just right when you hold it in your hand. However, while looks can be a factor, there are also people who prefer performance rather than looks.

One very good example is Samsung's previous flagship and midrange devices. It may not get all the nods and thumbs up when it comes to design, but they get the job done time and again.

HTC on other hand, always play catch up because its target market are composed of buyers who value good-looking smartphones. And based on the latest update about HTC's slump in sales (27.37% drop from last year), it is safe to say that the Taiwanese manufacturer's strategy is not working anymore.

The only positive note from HTC in a very long while was from its Desire lineup which was launched back in March and April. While the smartphones did not have super lightning fast processors nor Full HD displays, they still managed to sell hundreds of thousands.

The HTC One M8 is a monster phone and a must-have for any Android user, but its price may be too steep. The smaller version, the One mini 2 which launch last month is certainly an ideal option as it would be cheaper.

But alas, aside from the fact that pricing details have not yet been revealed, the One mini 2 is one very expensive smartphone for a midranger. Packed with a Snapdragon 400, it runs just as well as Motorola's Moto G - and that one costs less than $200. And there are hundreds of other options which pack better specs but cost less.

While the camera department is certainly note worthy, one would just go for the One M8 flagship which costs a little higher. Unless HTC changes or announces an affordable price tag for the One mini 2, this midranger is doomed to fail.
