2014 NBA Free Agency Rumors & Predictions: Deron Williams To Lakers? Tinseltown Needs Stars But D-Will Has Worst Contract In NBA!

The 2014 NBA Free Agency Rumors & Predictions continues as we see desperate teams trying to fix their blunders. Deron Williams has totally lost his All-Star mojo but is set to be paid superstar salary until 2017!

Williams had the swagger at the start of the season as the Brooklyn Nets acquired Kevin Garnett and Paul Pierce. They had championship aspirations that blew up in their faces as they struggled. They managed to establish themselves as the "Heat Killer" by sweeping the defending champions Miami Heat in regular season. The Heat got fitting revenge when they blew the Nets, 4-1.

The Nets have nagging questions, but the big reason for their disappointing season is none other than Deron Williams, the former All-Star guard who they expected to be their leader. After a disappointing season, Williams reportedly wanted out of Brooklyn. It was not a trade demand, but the Nets would definitely oblige. But Deron, who's playing like a pedestrian point guard who just got out of college costs as much as the Brooklyn Bridge. The Nets need to find the bigger or more desperate fool. Did they find one in the Lakers?

From LA Daily News:

"Another target for the Lakers is veteran point guard Deron Williams, who has been subpar for the past two seasons in Brooklyn. Williams, former perennial All-Star, wants to get out from his current situation with the Nets in hope of reviving his career with a championship contender team.

Sports Illustrated reported the Nets could consider putting Williams on the trading block, if the point guard continues to push his request."

But would the Lakers want to take on D-Will, who is, according to Bleacer Report:

"There's a new 'worst contract' in the NBA. It belongs to the fallen star that is Deron Williams."

The Lakers can, because they have the cap space and they can generate exceptions so they can trade for Deron Williams without sending a player back (because they don't have any). But in doing so, they will gamble on a rapidly degrading point guard and lose all their cap flexibility for the next two years.

If Lakers GM Mitch Kupchak pulls the trigger on this deal, then you might as well sell him the Brooklyn Bridge.
