Android 4.4 Kit Kat Release Date Hits Samsung Galaxy S4 Active For AT&T, Brings UI Improvements, Features

It is almost a year since Google announced Android 4.4 KitKat release date, and since then the search giant has already made three separate updates for handsets which run on the latest Android version.

However, as for users of the Samsung Galaxy S4 for AT&T, they may be late in getting the update, but at least their phones are getting it.

According to a report by GSM Arena, the new update will change the version of the users' Android version into 4.4.2. The update was first released by Google around March and right away, people have been demanding it on their phones.

Unfortunately for AT&T subscribers and owners of the Galaxy S4 Active, an announcement stated that Samsung was still looking for possible inclusions in its 4.4.2 changelog so the update would be worth the download.

True to its word, here are some of the changes which Galaxy S4 Active users would notice on their devices:

  • Android 4.4 OS upgrade
  • Copy and paste improvements
  • Easier to insert pictures and videos in email or messages
  • Camera app accessibility from the lock screen
  • Call reliability improvements
  • In its initial years in the Android market, Samsung was one of those bashed by consumers for delivering very late updates to its devices, that is if they even update the device. However, as the Korean tech giant became more knowledgeable and came to understand the importance of aftersales services, it eventually became more active in keeping its devices updated to the latest Android version.

However, for Samsung consumers do not expect too much from the company as its usual strategy is to work on updates for smartphones which have been released two years ago at most. For instance, the Galaxy S2 will surely not get Kitkat as it was announced more than two years ago when Kitkat was released.

The Galaxy S4 Active for all carriers, even the unlocked ones will surely get the update. It will only depend on Samsung how fast or slow they would be able to work on the tweaks and improvements in their previous smartphones.
