The highly-anticipated The Sims 4 release date was finally announced at E3 2014.

According to executive producer Rachel Franklin, during Electronic Arts' presentation at E3 2014, The Sims 4 release date on PC is scheduled for September 2. She told, "Our fans will be able to experience why we believe The Sims 4 is the best life simulation game ever."

As cited on pcr-online.biz, Franklin further stated, "These are brand new Sims whose traits, emotions and aspirations combine to define more meaningful personalities than you've ever played with before. You decide not only what they look like, but more importantly, who they are. The combination of these new Sims, our powerful new creative tools, and the all-new Gallery add up to the best game we've ever made."

In The Sims 4, players will be able to control the emotion of their Sims. And it can be so intense that the virtual characters can even die of laughter. Watch the E3 2014 presentation below for The Sims 4 to learn more about the upcoming lifestyle simulation game.

As for other the Sims 4 news and updates, Ryan Vaughan, TS4 producer, in an interview with Gamasutra, explained even further what they mean about injecting emotions in the game. Cited on SimsVIP, he stated:

I'd say it's a bit bigger than just emotions. I think our focus in this iteration of The Sims is the Sims themselves. So not only do they now surface emotions in all new ways, but they have really deep personalities.

And as we've been developing it and building out the content of the game over the last couple of years, we've noticed that it's really changing the way we're playing the game. A lot of the people here on the dev team have been on The Sims team since the first Sims game, and we've seen that as we've really increased the depth and power of Sims' traits in addition, and combined that with what we're doing with their emotions, it's bringing them to life in a way that feels really different.

Aside from the emotions and big personalities of the Sims, players can also expect the detailed and much-improved Create-A-Sim tool and Build Mode when The Sims 4 arrives.
