Lindsay Lohan’s Speed-The-Plow Stint Follows Madonna’s Lead? ‘Mean Girls’ Star’s West End Debut Slated In September

Lindsay Lohan's "Speed-the-Plow" stint followed Madonna's lead who also made her theater debut on the same play. The "Mean Girls" actress will have her West End debut in September.

According to E! Online, Madonna originally played Karen in 1998 during the Broadway production of "Speed-the-Plow" and she won two Tony awards for her efforts.

The Ambassador Theatre Group on June 26 announced that Lindsay Lohan's "Speed-the-Plow" will be staged in Playhouse Threatre in London's West End starting on September 24.

Along with the announcement was the official synopsis of the play, as published on E!, which reads:

"When a hugely bankable star agrees to appear in a sure-fire commercial hit, film producers Bobby Gould and Charlie Fox are convinced this is the break of a lifetime. That is until Karen (played by Lindsay Lohan), a temporary secretary, derails the dream. When she persuades Bobby to dump the blockbuster in favor of a story which can only be described as box-office poison, Charlie is forced to resort to desperate measures."

In an interview with the New York Times, Lindsay Lohan weighed in on the project: "It's the first time I've done a stage play or anything like that. I'm nervous but I'm excited."

London's The Guardian reported that Lindsay Lohan's West End debut play will be directed by Lindsay Posner who also directed "A Life in the Theatre" and "American Buffalo."

Lindsay Lohan's Speed-the-Plow West End debut was preceded by reports that the former Disney child star has been living in London for the past few weeks. The controversial actress also posted a photo on her Instagram where she is standing on a stage door along with the caption: "Ready for my close up! XO."

According to E! Lindsay Lohan's West End debut is another attempt by the actress to revive her career as she struggled with her image in the United States following several run-ins with the law.
