Samsung Gear 2 Neo Review: Specs Of Low Cost Wearable Incl. 1.63-inch Display, Tizen OS, 1GHz Dual-Core CPU; ‘A Better Deal’ Than The More Expensive Original
Samsung Gear 2 Neo review: Specs of the low-cost wearable Samsung Gear 2 Neo include a 1.63-inch display with a resolution of 320 x 320 with a pixel density of 278 ppi. The unit is also powered by Tizen OS, the Samsung and Intel-backed platform, and has a 1GHz dual-core CPU. It also has a 512MB RAM and a battery life that the South Korean tech giant says can last up to five days.
In a review by CNET, it described the Samsung Gear 2 Neo as a better deal than it’s more expensive counterpart, the Samsung Galaxy Gear 2.
“Samsung's Gear 2 Neo comes with a more attractive price, a feature set that's nearly identical to the more expensive Gear 2, and a lot of bells and whistles including apps, offline music playback, and heart-rate monitoring,” writes CNET’s Scott Stein.
Phone Arena describes the Gear 2 Neo as not your “typical cheapo model” but it definitely has lacks some features like a camera.
DESIGN. Samsung has managed to make the Gear 2 Neo less stuffy than the original and more expensive smartwatch. The Gear 2 Neo has no camera and is lighter and less bulky than the second gen wearable flagship. Phone Arena says that the device is likable with its appearance and the rubberized strap doesn’t feel as cheap like some competing smartwatches.
DISPLAY. The display of the Samsung Gear 2 Neo isn’t different from the original Gear. It has the same 1.63-inch 320 x 320 pixel resolution.
INTERFACE. The Samsung Gear 2 Neo runs on the Tizen OS and the company promises hundreds of different apps will be made available for launch. Phone Arena says that it expects the number of apps to be available to only grow post-launch. The Gear 2 Neo can also be paired with around 20 different Samsung Galaxy devices.
PROCESSOR AND MEMORY. The Gear 2 Neo has a 1GHz dual-core CPU that is powered with 512MB of RAM and is said to have a battery life of up to five days.
The Samsung Gear 2 Neo is available for $199 and its variants come in three colors: Mocha Gray, Wild Orange, and Charcoal Black.
