‘Gotham’ TV Series Spoilers To Be Revealed In Comic Con; ‘Batman’ Prequel Cast Poison Ivy’s Name Lame?
"Gotham" TV series spoilers will be revealed in Comic Con as "Batman" prequel cast Poison Ivy's name change from the original comic book was described as lame.
InsideTV revealed in a report that fans attending the Comic-Con next month will have in their hands "Gotham" TV series spoilers, as the prequel to the Batman series will debut along with "The Flash," "Constantine" and "Arrow."
The premiere screening was a result of the partnership between Warner Bros. and DC Entertainment.
Meanwhile, Rob Bricken of iO9 website commented on the "Gotham" TV series spoilers when he said the cast was pretty spot-on based on the promo posters released by the network, except maybe the name change of Poison Ivy who was renamed to Ivy Pepper from the original comics character of Pamela Isley.
"That's pretty terrible, because having a character named Ivy who eventually decides her supervillain name will be Poison Ivy is the sort of lame comic book nonsense that went out of style in the '60s. But Ivy Pepper? Was Ivy Plant too on-the-nose for you guys? Maybe Ivy Greenthumb?" he noted.
"What the hell was wrong with the not-completely-obvious Pamela Isley? She's introduced in the show in an apartment full of houseplants, after all," he added, explaining that a girl with plants will make it easy for people to make the association "without the show figuratively beating us over the head."
The "Gotham" TV series is a prequel to when the hot-tempered billionaire puts on the bat suit. It tells the story of rookie detective James Gordon (Ben McKenzie) who, two weeks into the job, finds himself trying to be a father figure to the young Bruce Wayne, cleansing the department of corrupt cops and dealing with supervillains.
