Upcoming Windows Phones 2014: Microsoft And Nokia Will Finally Release A Smartphone Together, Tipped To Be A Midranger

Ever since Microsoft has formally absorbed Nokia, we haven't heard any joint projects between the two, especially about upcoming Windows phones in 2014. Microsoft has unveiled its Surface Pro slates without the other's help, and Nokia continues to release versions of its Lumia 630 and 930 handsets to the market.

But in a recent report by GSM Arena, it looks like the partnership has already gone underway and is nearing completion of its first handset together.

An unknown Nokia Windows Phone handset was spotted at Chinese microblogging website Weibo, and it looks like it has more than 5 inches of screen real estate.

In the images, the phone packs thin bezels, which make the screen look bigger and the phone's facade look smaller than it really is.

The device is said to be a midranger, stating by the look of the primary camera at the back which is free from any PureView sensor enhancements.

We'll bring you more details about this mysterious device soon.

Both Microsoft and Nokia have been working together since 2010 when the latter decided that it would focus on Windows Phone OS and completely abandon its Symbian roots. However, the mobile platform did not get as much attention due to the sudden rise of Android back then.

But after consequent updates, with the most recent one getting rave reviews from fans and experts, the Windows Phone platform is indeed having a good run.

During its BUILD conference, it announced Windows Phone 8.1, which brings a notification center, options for customizing the home screen, and of course the voice assistant Cortana, which is based from a character from the popular Halo franchise.

However, people are already waiting for a Microsoft phone, and not a Nokia device. And soon enough, Nokia and Microsoft would soon unveil a number of handsets ranging from entry level to flagship level.

Let us just hope, the hype of this new midranger would not disappoint.
