New York Knicks News: Anthony 'Expected' To Re-Sign With NY, Knicks Consider Chicago As The Only Threat To Get Melo

Since the start of the NBA free agency period this week, a lot of New York Knicks news focused on updates about its most popular superstar, Carmelo Anthony.

After meeting with four teams on the road, Melo sat once again with the Knicks management Thursday to weigh everything before making a decision.

And according to a report by Bleacher Report, Adrian Wojnarowski of Yahoo Sports said that New York is still the frontrunner as far as where Melo would go before the next season begins.

In another report by Frank Isola through the New York Daily News, the 30-year-old scoring machine is 'expected' to accept the maximum deal offered by the Knicks which amounts to $129 million in a span of 5 years.

In the report, Anthony was looking for New York to rebuild and know the details about it. Wojnarowski mentioned that he asked manager and Hall Of Fame coach Phil Jackson as well as new Knicks head coach Derek Fisher regarding their plans for the team this coming 2014-15 season, particularly with regard to star and role players they would bring in.

An official who was part of the recruitment process said, "He just wants to feel like he's not all alone on the court."

Meanwhile, in a report by Sam Amick from USA Today, as far as New York management is concerned, the only real threat to their pursuit of Melo to re-sign is the Bulls.

Come to think of it, Chicago has almost all of the needed pieces to become title contenders once again. Derrick Rose is reportedly healthy and would begin the season, center Joakim Noah has just won the NBA Defensive Player of the year award, and Taj Gibson has blossomed into one of the Bulls' more reliable scorers and energy guys off the bench.

And to think all of those players are motivated, trained and coached by Tom Thibodeau, who managed to get wins for the Bulls in spite missing his star player, Chicago is certainly a tough team to beat once Melo joins them in Windy City.

In the report, Anthony is said to spend the weekend in Los Angeles, and is expected to announce his decision next week.
