Top Android Phones 2014: Xiaomi Surpasses 10M Unit Sales For Mi-3, Announces Champagne Gold Edition

Xiaomi is undeniably one of the makers of top Android phones for 2014 especially in terms of popularity and unit sales. In a recent report, the Chinese brand announced that it has sold more smartphones during the first quarter of 2014, compared to last year.

One reason for such a feat is due to the fact that Xiaomi has slowly become a household name not only in China, but in some markets as well, particularly for people who are updated with the latest technology news.

And now in a new report by GSM Arena, the Chinese manufacturer proudly announced that its high-end device, the Mi-3 has just surpassed 10 million unit sales.

Announced in September and became available in December last year, the Mi-3 was indeed the Galaxy S4 of China. In case you missed the unveiling, the device packs a 5-inch display with Full HD (1920 x 1080) resolution, 2GB of RAM and a Snapdragon 800 chipset.

Under the hood lies Android 4.2 Jelly Bean, although for latter versions of the device, the Xiaomi handset comes with Kit Kat out of the box. The phone has either a 16GB or 64GB internal memory.

Behind the device is a 13MP primary camera that is at par with the best in the business back then, and even until now.

After the announcement which was made by Xiaomi's CEO Lei Jun himself, he also announced an upcoming champagne gold version of the Xiaomi Mi-3.

In the report, the Champagne Gold version is currently available exclusively in China, though we sure hope it gets released elsewhere as well.

The Xiaomi Mi-3 is priced at CNY 1,499 for the cheaper 16GB edition, which roughly translates to around $241. A cheap price for a premium smartphone. We can only wait for the Chinese brand to release the Mi-3's successor later this year.
