Cheap Android Phones 2014: This 'Dagger' Is Something Worth Keeping, Midrange Device Only Costs $166

China is the place to be if you are looking for decent and cheap Android phones in 2014. Several phone OEMs have managed to rise above the ranks in recent months, but that does not mean other companies cannot produce great handsets as well.

One such piece of hardware is the Doogie Dagger DG550, a cheap Android device that only costs $166.

Sure, it is more expensive than the Motorola G when it made its debut later last year, but if we compare the specs of both devices, the Dagger puts Moto G to shame.

The Doogie Dagger DG550 packs a huge 5.5-inch display with HD (1280 x 720) resolution, which is the staple among midrangers today. However, it does not stop there.

The Android-powered handset also boasts an octa-core CPU clocked at 1.7GHz, a MediaTek chipset, and 1GB of RAM. Those specs would be enough for most users nowadays, especially for people who just want an upgrade to their feature phone, but with a good camera and better features.

The Dagger DG550 has a 16GB built-in storage paired with a microSD card slot that can support up to 32GB of memory. The usual connectivity specs are also present including GPS, Bluetooth, and Wi-Fi.

Interestingly, the device also supports dual-SIM, though the first SIM slot is of normal size, while the other requires microSIM. We assume that the primary SIM is the smaller one.

There is a 13MP primary camera that comes with the Dagger, and it is paired with a 3MP front cam for selfies and video calls.

The Doogie device runs on Android 4.2 Jelly Bean, which is a downside, althoough considering the phone's price and initial specs mentioned, it is still a device worth the look. To top it off, the Doogie Dagger DG550 runs on a 2,600mAh which should be enough to last a day with moderate use.
