Pink Floyd New Album 2014: Dave Gilmour’s Wife Leaks To Twitter 'The Endless River' Out in October; Will Pink Floyd Tour? Will Roger Waters Appear? [VIDEO]

Pink Floyd will have a new album out this October. Break out a Big Spliff. If you can believe what you read, "The Endless River" will hit just in time to celebrate the 20th anniversary of Pink Floyd's final album, 1994's "The Division Bell."

The news was leaked on Twitter by Polly Samson, David Gilmour's wife. Polly Samson co-wrote the lyrics to most of the songs on Floyd's The Division Bell. Samson announced on Twitter that a Pink Floyd album called "The Endless River" will be released come October.

Samson tweeted that the new album is "based on 1994 sessions."

"Btw Pink Floyd album out in October is called "The Endless River". Based on 1994 sessions is Rick Wright's swansong and very beautiful," Samson wrote on Twitter.

Durga McBroom-Hudson, who sang backup for Pink Floyd previously took to Facebook to announce "YES. THERE IS A PINK FLOYD ALBUM COMING OUT. AND I'M ON IT. And there was much rejoicing."

The new Pink Floyd album will be based on recordings that were made during the sessions for "The Division Bell," but never before released. The recordings were going to be used for an album that was tentatively titled "The Big Spliff" at the time.

The sessions were done by guitarist David Gilmour, drummer Nick Mason and their late keyboardist Rick Wright (Rick Wright died of cancer in 2008, after releasing two solo albums. His last performance with the band was in 2005), who made up the final incarnation of Pink Floyd after Roger Waters, their bassist and main songwriter, left. Founding member, songwriting guitarist Syd Barrett, left the band in the sixties, an acid casualty who became more unreliable on stage.

In his book "Inside Out" Nick Mason talked about the sessions, saying "we eventually ended up with enough left-over material that we considered releasing it as a second album."

Durga McBroom-Hudson said "The recording did start during 'The Division Bell' sessions (and yes, it was the side project originally titled "The Big Spliff" that [Floyd drummer] Nick Mason spoke about). Which is why there are Richard Wright tracks on it. But David and Nick have gone in and done a lot more since then. It was originally to be a completely instrumental recording, but I came in last December and sang on a few tracks. David then expanded on my backing vocals and has done a lead on at least one of them. That's the song you see being worked on in the photo."
