Moto X+1 Release Date, Rumors, Specs, And Leaked Photos: Smartphone Also Called Motorola X2 Likely To Release Soon As Motorola X Gets Price Drop [PHOTO]

Though officially a lot of the information is still being held back, the Moto X+1 smartphone is expected to be released by the end of the year, most likely in September.

Exact specs are still unknown, but it's expected to include 2GB of RAM, a Super AMOLED screen, and internal memory of 64GB - with the usual MicroSD functionality.

TK Tech News is back with a video of the 5.2-inch unannounced Motorola smartphone. The smartphone has been covered in areas with tape to protect the tipster. The handset appears to be running what looks like a very early build of Google's just announced Android L OS and is running on Verizon's 4G LTE network.

A Motorola re-seller claimed that this phone will sport a 5.2-inch display, featuring 1080 x 1920 pixel resolutions. The 'Moto X+1' is rumored to sport 2GB of RAM and draw power from a Snapdragon 800 2.3 GHz processor. We could be looking at a 12 MP primary camera too!

A new video leaked onto the internet this week that displays a device that could be the Moto X2 running Android 5.0 "L" version software. The smartphone is slightly larger than the Nexus 5 which comes with a 4.95-inch display.

In January Google announced that it was selling the Motorola Mobility (phone division) to Chinese firm Lenovo for $2.91 billion. This could be why there has been an apparent delay in the release of the X+1.

Larry Page, CEO of Google commented:

"Lenovo has the expertise and track record to scale Motorola Mobility into a major player within the Android ecosystem. This move will enable Google to devote our energy to driving innovation across the Android ecosystem, for the benefit of smartphone users everywhere."

Motorola has launched a limited time deal on the unlocked Moto X, taking the price of the already affordable mid-ranger down to $299. By entering the promo code MBXISMOT via Moto Maker, buyers can save up to $125 on the regular selling price, though the deal is scheduled to expire later this week, July 26.

It's now widely expected that the Moto X+1 will soon take the torch from the Moto X, once again delivering a package that by the time of its launch will be considered mid-range. Stopping short of the new QHD standard fast being adopted by the world's biggest Smartphone makers, the X+1 is more likely to present a 1080p HD touchscreen around the 5.5-inch mark - the firm's first official Phablet.
