LG G3 Release Date: LG's Flagship Gets An Early Price Cut In The US On-Contract

The LG G3 release date has recently hit the US, but less than a month after it was made available, the Korean manufacturer's flagship is already getting a price cut.

According to a report by GSM Arena, the LG G3 which was previously priced at $199 on contract will be almost $100 cheaper for consumers who plan to get it via a 2-year deal.

Before the price cut, AT&T, Verizon and Sprint offer the device for $199 on a two-year contract, but not anymore.

In addition, Best Buy and Amazon have also slashed the upfront price of their LG G3s by $100, bringing it down to $100 on contract. The price cut will only be available for the higher-end model of the LG G3, which packs a 3GB RAM and 32GB built in memory.

In case you are still thinking whether to buy the G3 or not, it is considered by many as the real Android phone to beat today.

The LG flagship packs a 5.5-inch display with a whopping QHD (2560 x 1440) resolution, and it is only the third smartphone to get such a resolution. The first two include the Vivo Xplay 3s and the Oppo Find 7 which both launched earlier this year.

Other specs of the LG G3 include a Snapdragon 801 chipset, quad-core CPU, a 13MP primary camera with optical image stabilization, and a 2MP front camera for selfies and video calls.

The phone is powered by a 3,000mAh battery and Android 4.4.2 Kit Kat out of the box.

The price cut is still quite confusing, especially that the high-end smartphone has just arrived on US shores. One speculation is that the higher-end model, which is dubbed as the LG G3 Prime is already gearing to make its way in the international market.

Currently, the phone is tipped to launch in Korean on July 25, and take on the freshly-released Samsung Galaxy S5 LTE-A phone.
