Upcoming LG Phones 2014: The Battle Of The Monster Smartphones Have Officially Begun In Korea, LG G3 LTE-A Cat 6 Takes On Samsung Galaxy S5 LTE-A

Last May, the Korean manufacturer unleashed probably the best spec'd smartphone and one of the top upcoming LG phones of 2014. But even with its high-end specs, it looks like the G3 is still not enough as far as the manufacturer is concerned.

For the past few weeks, we have been hearing and reading rumors about an even higher-end smartphone, dubbed as the G3 Prime. And while the rumor did not pan out to be true as far as branding is concerned, the device actually exists, and is now available in Korea.

Dubbed as the LG G3 LTE-A Cat 6, the naming itself resembles that of its rival, the Samsung Galaxy S5 LTE-A which has been released in June.

Like the Galaxy S5 LTE-A, the G3 LTE-A Cat 6 packs a higher-end Qualcomm chip, Snapdragon 805 with 3GB of RAM, a quad-core CPU clocked at 2.5GHz, and Krait 420 for presumably the best graphics performance in a smartphone.

So what's the difference?

Aside from the faster chipset, one of the major changes in the newer LG smartphone is its LTE-A Cat 6 connectivity which is among the fastest. Internet connectivity is among the most important features in Korea, where almost everyone stays connected and updated through social media.

LG has been doing good in the smartphone battle as far as the Android platform is concerned. It primarily focuses on its home market initially, and eventually expands the coverage to neighboring Asian countries, then finally to the US and Europe.

However, as the IFA event in Berlin approaches, we can't help but wonder what the Korean manufacturer would unveil now that it has already launched two flagship-caliber smartphones.

Unfortunately, it looks like availability for this one will be exclusive to South Korea, though we're still hoping the LG smartphone makes it way to the market. Pricing details have not yet been revealed.
