Jeremy Lin News: NBA Star Wants 'Bigger Role' For The Lakers, Could He Be Long-Time Floor General For Los Angeles?

The biggest Jeremy Lin news this off-season is his departure from Houston en route to his fourth NBA team in four years as a pro - the Los Angeles Lakers.

A lot of people may say that 'Linsanity' is a total fluke and the Lin who starred during that stretch is an entirely different person now. But for Lin fans, he just wasn't given the opportunity in his last NBA team.

Aside from the fact that he was second fiddle to James Harden in his first year as a Rocket, Lin became the team's sixth man when coach Kevin McHale chose Patrick Beverly as the starting point guard.

However, all of that will be bound to change with the Los Angeles Lakers.

Answering questions from fans during a basketball camp in Taiwan, Lin said that he is excited to play with 5-time NBA champion Kobe Bryant.

"I wish my role could become bigger and more important, and I also wish I could get more playing time next year," said the 25-year-old NBA star who would play with future Hall of Famer Steve Nash.

After a rough free agency expedition, failing to land Carmelo Anthony, the Lakers management was able to get all of the minor pieces in order to build a contending team, at least a group that will have chances to make its way to the Playoffs. And if Bryant shows the vintage 'Mamba', he may be able to carry the team even to the conference semis or finals.

Some people say that acquiring Lin was more of a business move rather than a step to success for the Lakers, but the former Harvard standout's play-making skills will be crucial for a Los Angeles team which lost almost half of its key players this off-season.

New acquisitions Ed Davis and Carlos Boozer, together with first round draft pick Julius Randle will be a stable front court trio that will help Robert Sacre and Jordan Hill down low. Lin will have to work with Bryant to orchestrate the Lakers' plays, and new coach Byron Scott will certainly play a major role in making all these pieces work together.
