Upcoming Nokia Phones 2014: Lumia 530 Dual-SIM Announced, Can It Exceed The Lumia 520's Performance?

In spite all the commotion going inside the Microsoft compound, Nokia continues its job - releasing upcoming Nokia phones for 2014.

For consumers who want to try out the latest Windows Phone 8.1 update but do not want to invest in an expensive flagship like the Nokia Lumia 930, nor the midrangers Lumia 630 and 635, then the entry-level Lumia 530 may do the trick.

Here, Nokia is refreshing what has worked in the past - a quality device with a decent design and an affordable price tag.

A couple of years ago, the Fins launched the Lumia 520 and it has sold millions after that. While a successor was released a couple of months ago in the Lumia 525, it was not a hit like the Lumia 520 was.

As for the Lumia 530, it adds dual-SIM support so that may be something that would entice WP fans and Android and iOS switchers.

Overall, one of the upcoming Nokia phones for 2014 will get similar specs, including a 4.5-inch display with 854 x 480 resolution, still 512MB of RAM, a 4GB built in memory quad-core CPU, Snapdragon 200, and a microSD card slot.

There is also a 5MP camera at the back, but gets a lower resolution in recording, only 854 x 480 whereas the Lumia 520 can record HD (720p) clips. The phone also downgrades on the IPS display of the Lumia 520 and gets a normal LCD screen instead. Rumors of a ClearBlack screen were also proven inaccurate.

Of course, that may be Nokia's way to keep the cost down. For consumers who are on a tight budget but would like to try out the WP 8.1 platform, then saving money at any cost is their priority.

According to the report by GSM Arena, the Nokia Lumia 530 will cost only $115, though that is before taxes and subsidies are applied. Availability details are not yet revealed.
