Upcoming HTC Phones 2014: Is The HTC Remix Worth It? Now Available Through Verizon

Today marked the official release date of one of the upcoming HTC phones in 2014, the HTC Remix a.k.a. the One mini 2.

Launched internationally last month, the One mini 2 sports interesting specs when compared to its older and higher-spec'd sibling, the One M8 flagship.

While the phone gets a lower frequency 1.2GHz quad-core Cortex A7 CPU as well as a Snapdragon 400, the phone makes up for it by including a 13MP 'conventional' camera which is in practice performs better than the 4MP UltraPixel Duo camera of the One M8.

The Taiwanese manufacturer also retained the 5 megapixel snapper in front for selfies. Even with the slower CPU and processor, HTC included 1.5GB of RAM to enable the phone to run multiple apps at once without suffering too much on performance.

Other specs include a 4.5-inch display with HD (1280 x 720) resolution, 16GB of internal memory with the option to expand via the available microSD card slot, and HTC's staple BoomSound speakers.

But because this is not the HTC One mini 2, but the HTC Remix, we can expect heavy branding from its carrier, Verizon.

According to the report by GSM Arena, the device can be purchased from the US carrier on contract with a price of $99.99. Fortunately, the HTC Remix supports LTE connectivity so it will run on Verizon's new xLTE network as well as the Verizon Edge program.

But at roughly $600 off-contract, the One mini 2/Remix is only slightly cheaper than the flagship One M8 which has a better and bigger screen, bigger RAM, and more features. But for people who still prefer a smaller phone that can do just the usual things they need, and be able to save money in the process, then this phone could still be an ideal option.
