Barclay's Premier League: Sydney FC 0-4 Newcastle United

It's an easy victory for the Newcastle United as they opened up their pre-season tour of New Zealand in Dunedin in a match. The said match honored a couple of Magpies fans who passed away last week.

John Alder and Liam Sweeney were on their way to watch their team in New Zealand that led to their involvement in the Malaysia Airlines tragedy. Just then, Newcastle paid tribute by wearing black armbands and memorial warm-up T-shirts. They also held a minute of silence and laid wreaths on the supposed to be filled seats that represent the two supporters.

"We started with a very strong side, particularly in memory of John and Liam - I thought that was only right," Newcastle United manager Alan Pardew told www.nufc.co.uk. "It was important that we paid our respects. John and Liam were not just ordinary fans - they were a little bit special in their support of us."

"They were coming out here to watch us, all the way to New Zealand, and we had to make sure that their memory was in this stadium."

New-signed players Siem de Jong and Emmanuel Riviere put the Magpies right in track with goals in the first half of the hour while Mapou Yanga-Mbiwa sum up a third before the whistle of the break. Adam Armstrong rounded off the figures with seven minutes left on the clock.

"I enjoyed my first game - it was good to play with my new team," added Riviere. "It was a good match, we played well and we played as a collective. We won, so that was good for our preparations for the new season."

"I was so tired in the second half but I was very happy with how the game went because it was my first game, and I scored and gave an assist to Siem. I am comfortable here already. Everybody has been really nice to me and made me feel very welcome."

Newcastle United: Elliot; Yanga-Mbiwa, Taylor (Satka 76), Coloccini (Campbell 82), Haidara (Dummett 76); Anita,  Colback (Abeid 68); Gouffran (Armstrong 76), De Jong ( Vuckic 46), Aarons (Ameobi 68); Riviere (Perez 55).
