Barclay's Premier League: Rot-Weiss Erfurt 0-1 Queens Park Rangers

Charlie Austin, Queens Park Rangers pride and striker scored the crucial goal to drag his side into victory in their first pre-season match in Germany.

Austin headed in Joey Barton's fast taken free-kick midway through the first half to grab the chance of sealing the win in a fixture that presented 22 QPR players with seven from the club's development squad.

"It was a good run out for us," QPR manager Harry Redknapp told www.qpr.co.uk. "We knew they would provide a test for us given they start their season this weekend and that was certainly the case."

"I thought we did OK. I was pleased with the way we played.  It's still very early for us in terms of our pre-season. We're working hard in training and the lads did well. Charlie took his goal well and it was a nice quick free-kick from Joey to spot him."

"I was pleased for the young lads, they did well for us. They can only improve from this experience. It will be a good learning curve for them."

QPR first half XI: Green, O'Neil, Dunne, Barton, Austin, Wright-Phillips, Granero, Doughty, Gibbons (Traore 28), Sendles-White, Ehmer.

QPR second half XI: Lumley, Simpson, Traore, Hill, Donaldson, Onuoha, Petrasso, Faurlin, Henry, Zamora, and Sutherland.
