Blake Griffin, Chris Paul, Coach Doc Rivers To Boycott Season With LA Clippers? Legal Problems With Team Sale Will Keep Donald Sterling As The Owner!

The sale of the LA Clippers hit some legal snags. As expected, Donald Sterling will exhaust all legal means to fight for his ownership stake. Blake Griffin, Chris Paul and Coach Doc Rivers are mulling a possible boycott if the team does not change hands before the season starts in October.

Despite a hefty $ 2 Billion offer from Steve Ballmer, Sterling refuses to leave without a fight and has filed lawsuits against the NBA and even his wife.

LA Times has details of the suit: "In a lawsuit filed in Los Angeles Superior Court Tuesday afternoon, Sterling asked for an injunction to freeze the $2-billion sale to Ballmer and for unspecified damages.

The action claims that Donald Sterling's dismantling of the Sterling Family Trust on June 9 precluded his wife, Shelly Sterling, from taking any action to sell the team. Her moves to have him declared mentally incapacitated and to sell to Ballmer before that relied on fraud, breach of fiduciary duty, breach of contract and inflicted emotional distress on the longtime Clippers owner, his lawsuit contends."

Because of this, Chris Paul confirmed to ESPN that he, Coach Doc Rivers and Blake Griffin are considering the extreme measure of boycotting the season if Sterling is still the owner:

"That's something me and (head coach) Doc (Rivers) are both talking about. Something has to happen, and something needs to happen soon -- sooner rather than later. We're all going to talk about it. We're all definitely going to talk about it. Doc, Blake Griffin, DeAndre Jordan. It's unacceptable."

It's highly improbable that all parties would be willing to jeopardize their careers in protest considering how much money that they stand to lose, but Paul says they really feel strongly about this issue considering they are all part of the minority that Sterling discriminated against.

The NBA's owners have unanimously voted to oust Sterling but they would not have the final decision since it was taken to a legal forum.
