Los Angeles Lakers News: Will 'Linsanity' Resume Next NBA Season? Lin Will Make Or Break His Career With Lakers

The latest Los Angeles Lakers news brings NBA star Jeremy Lin back to the spotlight. As one of the top three market teams in the NBA, Los Angeles will surely be the stage of another expectation for the 25-year-old Harvard product.

During Lin's stint with the Houston Rockets, the point guard was far from his old self back in New York when he averaged close to 19 points and 7 dimes each game before eventually bowing out of the first round of the Playoffs in 2012.

The Rockets offered Lin a hefty sum of cash for three years, and some people believed he can continue what he began during the 'Linsanity' stretch. Unfortunately, just a day before the 2012-13 season began, Houston traded Kevin Martin and got then reigning sixth man of the year James Harden.

The world turned upside down for Lin as the more ball-dominant Harden was given priority in the offense. After starting for most of the Rockets' games in 2012-13, the floor general was replaced by defensive guard Patrick Beverly in as the starting point guard.

Lin occasionally gave fans glimpses of his Linsanity stint, though inconsistency has been the key word for the young point guard.

But now that Lin will most likely be the primary floor general for the Lakers, in case Steve Nash gets limited minutes due to injuries, he now has the opportunity to once again enjoy the game and play his own style - a fast-paced offense that involves teamwork.

Former Lakers coach Mike D'Antoni could have been a better fit for Lin now that he has moved to Los Angeles, since it was D'Antoni who motivated him with that kind of offense back in New York.

Depending on how the Lakers plan to move forward this season, Lin will certainly play a major role to serve as backup to an aging Kobe Bryant who is in pursuit of another NBA title.
