Barclay's Premier League: Philadelphia Union 0-1 Crystal Palace

Philadelphia Union 0-1 Crystal Palace

Ethan White owned a goal that earned Crystal Palace a narrow win over Philadelphia Union as they rooted out their first take home bacon on the club's tour of the United States.

The Eagles might have had more goals to release for their first-half display at PPL Park, but Yannick Bolasie, Joe Ledley and Dwight Gayle all found Philly goalkeeper Andre Blake in inspired form.

Blake could not do anything about the visitors' goal, however, when White got up above Marouane Chamakh, to meet Scott Dann's diagonal ball and send a looping header over his goalkeeper into the empty net.

"First half, truthfully, we should have scored quite a few goals and that's not criticising them [Philadelphia] at all, that's [Yannick] Bolasie, [Jason] Puncheon, [Marouane] Chamakh and [Dwight] Gayley all missing really good chances that they should have scored from," manager Tony Pulis told www.cpfc.co.uk. "In the second half we made lots of changes and it was a good work out for us. That's as hot as it's been for the lads as well."

Crystal Palace: Julian Speroni, Joel Ward (Adrian Mariappa, 50), Scott Dann (Paddy McCarthy, 54, Peter Ramage, 65), Damien Delaney, Jerome Williams (Hiram Boateng, 65), Jason Puncheon (Barry Bannan, 54), Mile Jedinak (Stuart O'Keefe 50), Joe Ledley (Jake Gray, 65), Yannick Bolasie (Jerome Thomas, 54), Marouane Chamakh (Adlene Guedioura, 65), Dwight Gayle (Glenn Murray, 50).
