NBA Trade Rumors: Klay Thompson Stays In Golden State? ‘Splash Brothers’ Are One Of The Better Backcourts And Should Not Be Broken Up! Warriors Shooter Has High Team USA Hopes!

Klay Thompson has been on the NBA Trade Rumor mill since Kevin Love declared his intention to bolt Minnesota. He's the Timberwolves prey of choice, and not even Andrew Wiggins could change that. Despite bigger stardom and money elsewhere, he would rather stay with his Splash Brother.

Thompson talked to Yahoo Sports. On Stephen Curry: "We got a good core. I feel we have one of the better backcourts in the league. I feel like we have a team that can do big things. Health is going to be huge, but I feel like we can make big strides this year."

Health has always been an issue-a big "What if?" for the Warriors. For two consecutive years, they didn't have David Lee and Andrew Bogut respectively. What if they did? Would they have become champions? Would they even consider a trade if that happened?

"The fact that I haven't been traded yet makes me feel comfortable. That speaks for itself."

The Warriors, despite hiring a new coach in Steve Kerr, did not make the big trade to make a splash(pardon the pun) and gave credit to Thompson's defense.

Thompson is on his way to the Team USA camp where he hopes to join the World Cup team. Stephen Curry is there, as well. They have an advantage because outside shooting is a premium in international competition.

Stephen Curry lauds their front office for not getting tempted by Love:

"Every year there is some rumor in play and teams are trying to make a power move. But they've made a decision, at least it seems like they have, that Klay is an investment they don't want to give up. That speaks volumes to what he has been able to do in his career and his potential. I'm happy that he's my backcourt mate."

Yahoo shares a little known fact: "Thompson's father, Mychal, played at the University of Minnesota with Timberwolves president and coach Flip Saunders. With the T'wolves, Thompson could have an easier time getting a maximum contract and would be the face of the franchise."

But his father does not make the decision on the trade. Even if he favors it, his son does not agree.

Even with the lure of solo stardom and alpha dog money, Klay is firm: "I'm attracted to winning. I think [the Warriors] have the team to win right now. It would be tough to leave."

His chances with Team USA: "I'm not going to say I'm going to make the team because you just never know. There are so many great players. You never know. But hopefully I can prove my worth this week."
