Samsung Galaxy S3 Update: Android 4.4.4 KitKat Arrives On S3 Handset Via Customized ROM; New Features Expected Incl. Wireless Printing, Camera Shortcuts

Samsung Galaxy S3 Update: Android 4.4.4 KitKat may not have been available as an official update to Samsung Galaxy S3 users, but a new customized ROM is now making the OS variant accessible. New features of the customized upgrade provided by the developers community include wireless printing and camera shortcuts.

According to Hallels.com, the new firmware will bring settings such as SMS optional app selector for Google hangouts, lock screen access with camera shortcut and full alarm default. The new update also brings with it new alarm location settings that comes with an integrated new location menu and a new selection of emoji icons as well as wireless printing for the compatible printer.

The new Custom ROM was designed to bring the Android 4.4.4 update in a stable and smooth release, bringing with it a lot of performance and system tweaks. The new features in the new C-ROM include PIE, HALO and Dark C-ROM, active display, gesture anywhere, floating windows, animation controls and lockscreen configurations.

The South Korean tech giant has been preoccupied in pushing out the Android 4.4 KitKat to the Samsung Galaxy flagships but has decided not to make an official update for the Samsung Galaxy S3. Android 4.4.4 KitKat, however, has already been rolled out to other Samsung handsets as well as Sony Xperia Z1, HTC One, and Moto G.

Custom ROMs have been the saving grace for a number of Samsung handsets that has not been deemed qualified by Samsung to receive any further OS upgrades. The Samsung Galaxy S2, which has reached end of life last year, is still able to take advantage of the Android 4.4 KitKat because of custom ROMs.

Users need to be careful when installing such updates as lack of technical know-how can brick your phone when updating.
