"The Amazing Spiderman 3" won't be released for another four years, until 2018. Instead Marvel will be releasing "The Avengers 3" in that time slot. 

The wait between "The Amazing Spiderman" and "The Amazing Spiderman 2" was only two years, the most recent being released this past April.

After initially setting the release date for 2016, Sony's Columbia Pictures announced its updated schedule for Spidey at Comic Con on Wednesday, July 23. The film will now be released on a still-unknown date in 2018. That said ther will be a Spiderman villian movie called "Sinister Six" in 2016.

The original Sinister Six, from the Marvel comics published in 1964, were comprised of Doctor Octopus, Electro, Kraven the Hunter, Sandman, Mysterio, and Vulture. No word yet on which iteration of supervillains will appear in the film, however.

Hours after "undating" the movies "Amazing Spider-Man 3" and "Amazing Spider-Man 4" to be released on June 10, 2016 and May 4, 2018, Marvel Studios and Disney announced a release date for an upcoming "Avengers 3" movie in that time spot. 

Marvel Studios is a subsidiary of Marvel Entertainment and a wholly owned subsidiary of the Disney Company. Both studios have distributed box-office movie franchises, including "X-Men," "Spider-Man" and the Marvel Cinematic Universe multifilm franchises: "Iron Man," "Captain America," "Thor," "Avengers" and the upcoming "Guardians of the Galaxy."

To sum things up, "Avengers 3" will be released on May 2018, "Amazing Spider-Man 3" on 2018, while its spinoff, "The Sinister Six," is set to be released on Nov. 11, 2016. 

The most recent update/ rumor says that Emma Stone will be returning, possibly as Mary-Jane Watson, which seems strange, as she was Gwen Stacy in the last movie.

This is strange news because Gwen Stacy was murdered at the end of "The Amazing Spider-Man 2," and for Emma Stone to come back as a different character does not seem likely. It does not seem unlikely that they won't bring her back somehow, but to become Mary-Jane?
