If you are on the hunt for upcoming Android tablets this 2014, and you're particularly looking for a gaming slate, then this one from NVIDIA will surely be an ideal option. 

Announced last week, this Android-powered gaming tablet is now available from NVIDIA's online store in the US, and costs just $299. 

Unfortunately, the $299 price tag only includes the Wi-Fi-enabled tablet and a generic-stylus that has GPU-acceleration features for drawing and doodling. 

But if you want to get the Shield Wireless Controller that has been featured with the NVIDIA tablet, you need to shell out $59.99 more. 

The add-on packs console-level controls, a stereo headset jack, microphone, and touchpad. Basically, it makes using the NVIDIA Shield tablet a lot better. 

If you want to get an official cover for the NVIDIA Shield, the manufacturer also offers one for $39.99. It features a olyurethane design and microfiber inner lining, which would protect your device from accidental bumps and even the occasional drops. 

In case you missed the unveiling last week, the NVIDIA Shield tablet packs an 8-inch display with 1920 x 1200 resolution, a Tegra K1 chipset, quad-core Cortex-A15 CPUs clocked at 2.2GHz, and a 192-core Kepler GPU that gives the device extreme performance in graphics and gaming. 

The device also gets 2GB of RAM, a microSD card slot, two 5MP cameras one at the front, and one at the back, and Android 4.4 Kit Kat out of the box. 

For the LTE version, the price is slightly higher at $399.

There are a number of decent Android tablets in the market, though most of them are for general tasks and functions. What's worse is that most of these tablets have steep pricing that will not appeal to the market. 

Fortunately for the NVIDIA Shield, it is aimed at an entirely diffierent market - the game enthusiasts, and comes at a much affordable base price.
