Xiaomi Mi4 release date: Xiaomi's latest flagship model, the Mi4 made a debut last July 29 in China. Powered by a 2.5 GHz Krait 400 quad-core processor, the Android 4.4.3 KitKat smartphone sports a 5-inch IPS LCD capacitive touchscreen display, dust and waterproof body, 3 GB RAM, 16/64 GB internal storage, and a 13 MP primary camera-a slight improvement from its predecessor, but still a quality smartphone at a pocket-friendly price.

For as low as $320 (16 GB memory), the Xiaomi Mi4 was presented as "the world's fastest smartphone." This is a pretty steep claim by the Chinese company. But with its stellar specs, its claim might be worth a shot.

With a thickness of 0.35 inches and a weight of 149 grams, the Xiaomi Mi4 is slightly thicker and heavier than the Mi3. However, the 2014 model makes up for it with its dust and water proof exterior (IP67 certified) that can last for 30 minutes in 1 meter water.

Under the hood, critics have yet to confirm if the Mi4 is the fastest smartphone yet. It has kept most of the Mi3's features, except for a slight improvement in RAM and faster processor. It also runs in Xiaomi's MIUI 6 UI, the company's own take on Android.

Xiaomi's flagship model carries the same 13 MP camera on the back. But this time, it wows us with an improved 8 MP front camera. The main camera features image stabilization, HDR, face & smile detection, touch focus, geo tagging, auto focus and dual LED Flash.

Mi4 also sports normal features such as 4G, 3G, WiFi, GPS, EDGE, GPRS, A - GPS, GLONASS. Connection-wise, it has Bluetooth, USB and NFC.

Following the footsteps of its predecessor, the Mi3, the Xiaomi Mi4 offers high-end features at lower prices compared with its competitors. Retailing at $320 (16 GB memory) and $405 (64 GB memory), both models are available in black and white in limited countries.
