iPhone 6 Release Date: Here's One Reason Why The 4.7" iPhone Version Is Not That 'Great' After All

The iPhone 6 release date is among the top news makers in the mobile universe as of late, particularly due to reports that it will come in two different display size versions - a first in the iPhone lineup.

Last year, most people did not think Apple can launch two new iPhone handsets in one go, but it did. Last September, the Cupertino manufacturer announced the flagship iPhone 5s, and the slightly cheaper iPhone 5c.

In spite concerns with regard to pricing, especially the seemingly outdated iPhone 5c in terms of specs, both smartphones from Apple have still done well, ranking first and second in the US market.

And now, Apple will once again break its own trend by releasing two screen sizes for its iPhone 6 release date. And while the bigger 5.5-inch version seems locked in to get a sapphire display, the 4.7-inch edition may not get it.

According to a report from GSM Arena, mass production of the 4.7-inch iPhone 6 has already begun since June, and if that's the case then it would not be able to enjoy the sapphire display which Apple begun to test and develop that same time.

In the report, the only parts of the iPhone 6 4.7-inch version that will get sapphire are the lens at the back and the Touch ID home button. Those are still pretty respectable considering that the phone will get a fingerprint sensor and an improved camera.

On the other hand, the 5.5-inch Apple phablet will be unveiled in December, according to sources in China, which means it may be the only version that gets the famed display material.

Earlier this year, rumors got out that the Cupertino manufacturer will use sapphire material for its next iPhone's screen, which is said to be cheaper, more durable and much thinner than the current materials used to manufacture screens today.
