LG G Pad 8.3 Review, Specs: Android Device Specs Incl. 8.3” Display, Krait 300 Quad-core Processor, 2 GB RAM, 16 GB Memory; Stiff Competition Against Tablet Heavyweights

LG G Pad 8.3 review, specs: There is still some pretty stiff competition in the Tablet market, especially with Google, Apple, and Samsung as the main contenders. However, LG is still part of the competition with its G Pad 8.3 that sports an 8.3-inch IPS LCD capacitive touchscreen, 16 GB internal storage (expandable up to 64 GB), 2 GB RAM and Android 4.2.2 Jelly Bean OS (upgradable to 4.4.2 KitKat), all powered by 1.7 GHz Krait 300 quad-core processor.

The question is: Is this tablet a cut above the rest? Here is a quick rundown of its features for you to see for yourself.

When it comes to price, the G Pad 8.3 retails at around $350. This is slightly cheaper than the iPad mini 2 with Retina display and the Samsung Galaxy Note 8.0 and only a bit pricier than the Google Nexus 7, with the same range of features and a beautifully designed body.

The LG tablet measures 8.54 x 4.98 x 0.33 inches and weighs 338 grams. It scores a major plus in portability because it is still small enough to fit in an adult-sized hand. With the back made of aluminum and plastic and the top layer with toughened glass, it resembles the solid and cool feel of Apple's tablets.

With a resolution of 1200 x 1920 pixels and a pixel density of 273 ppi, the G Pad 8.3's IPS LCD capacitive touchscreen is a high-quality display. It delivers bright, crisp images. Still, the images are less vibrant and more washed out. This might be because of the lack of backlight control.

Its processor, combined with an Adreno 320 graphics chip, is a fair companion for gamers as it can survive high-resolution games with minimal lagging.

After expertreviews.co.uk's bench test, the G Pad 8.3's 4,600mAh battery lived up to eight hours and 26 minutes-this is almost a whole day's run without charge.

Meanwhile, its camera features are not that impressive. Its rear facing one sports 5 MP without an LED flash, while its front has 1.3 MP.

The LG G Pad 8.3 has a significantly larger screen than most of its competitors, a sleek and sturdy body comparable to Apple's, and a good processor that delivers a sound performance. So is it enough to be the best tablet?

Tom Morgan of expertreviews.com says, "Good performance and a great custom skin makes this the best 8-inch Android tablet."

TechRadar agrees, saying "With a metal body, full HD display and decent innards the G Pad 8.3 is strongest rival to the iPad mini 2. While battery life could be better LG's tablet doesn't let the side down."

If you're in the market for a compelling tablet with all the right specs and design for a slightly lower price tag, than the LG Pad 8.3 is your man.
